Care & Repair
Every Guild 79 piece is made to be worn for years and kept for a lifetime with proper care. Gold, silver, and the materials we work develop their own patina over time. This is part of the material's life, not damage.
Daily care
- Store in the provided box, away from moisture and chemicals
- For wearables: remove before swimming, sport, or sleeping
- For wearables: apply perfume, lotion, and cosmetics before wearing, not after
- For objects on display: keep out of direct sun and away from heating sources
- Clean with a soft dry cloth, never ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips
Stone-specific care
Soft stones (opal, turquoise, emerald) should never be submerged or exposed to rapid temperature changes. Hard stones (diamond, sapphire, ruby) tolerate more but still benefit from the same treatment.
Solid metal objects
Sculptural pieces (chess sets, paperweights, desk objects) develop a deeper patina the longer they are handled. If you prefer the original surface, dust with a soft brush; for cleaning, a barely-damp lint-free cloth followed by a dry one. Do not use silver dip or commercial polishes. They remove the worked surface along with the tarnish.
If a stone becomes cloudy, a setting feels loose, or a structural element on an object loosens, stop using the piece immediately and contact us. Continued wear or handling can worsen damage we might otherwise repair.
Lifetime service, at no labour charge
For as long as you own your Guild 79 piece, the care below is offered at no labour charge. You cover transport to and from the atelier; we cover the work itself. These terms apply to your current piece and may be updated for future orders.
- Polishing and re-finishing
- Stone resetting and prong tightening
- Clasp replacement (using equivalent original-spec clasp)
- Solder repair on breaks at natural stress points
- Restringing and re-knotting of pearl and bead work
- Structural repair on objects (joints, weighted bases, hinges)
- Minor resize (within tolerance, no added or removed material)
Material work: at cost
Work that adds or removes material is quoted before work begins. We charge the material at cost plus the time required. No markup, no service fee. This includes:
- Resize requiring added gold or silver
- Stone replacement
- Re-casting or rebuilding sections
- Significant restoration on heavily worn pieces
You receive the quote within 3 business days of our receiving the piece. Work proceeds only after you confirm.
How to request a repair
Email us with your edition number (on the provenance certificate), photographs of the piece and the issue, and your shipping address. We confirm whether the work falls under free lifetime service or material-work-at-cost within 3 business days. You cover shipping to and from our atelier.
Sizing & measurement
Every product page lists full dimensions so you can confirm size before ordering. We don't offer free wrong-size exchanges. Resizing is part of lifetime service: free if no added material is needed, at cost if material must be added. Every piece is made to order, so an incorrect size you supplied is put right by resizing, not a refund.
Limited warranty
One year against manufacturing defects from the delivery date, in addition to your statutory rights. Covers structural failure of settings, clasps, or solder joints under normal wear. Damage from accidents, misuse, exposure to chemicals, or natural wear of finishes falls outside the warranty but remains repairable: free under lifetime service for non-material work, at cost where material must be added or replaced. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state or country. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.
